ACTIVISM

What is activsm? Is Activism like terrorism or like vandalism, or violence?

Activism organize activities to make change's things

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is neither an academic nor an international legal consensus regarding the definition of the term terrorism. Various legal systems and government agencies use different definitions. Moreover, governments have been reluctant to formulate an agreed upon, legally binding definition. These difficulties arise from the fact that the term is politically and emotionally charged.

Activism consists of efforts to promote, impede, or direct social, political, economic, or environmental change, or stasis. Activism is action of the powerless against the powerful. It is a peaceful form of conflict; working out our issues through use of our 1st Amendment rights: Speech, Press, Assembly, Association, and petition. Activism various forms of activism range from writing letters to newspapers or politicians, political campaigning, economic activism such as boycotts or preferentially patronizing businesses, rallies, street marches, strikes, sit-ins, and hunger strikes. Research is beginning to explore how activist groups in the United States and Canada are using social media to facilitate civic engagement and collective action

For a prensentation you have to be strong at introdution.

TESIS  Is activism justified?

Use "on the one hand" and "however".

On the one hand activism is necessary to make things change, however sometimes the activism promote destruction in cities and problems at citizens.

On the one hand modern activists have been quick to seize new technology to spread their messages. However, simply going viral does not mean a campaign will be successful. In reality, viral activism is a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, social media encourages mass participation and awareness. On the other hand, such mass participation can transform a legitimate campaign into a viral fad that burns hot before quickly fading.

Is important to be the balance, only on the one hand not, on the one hand and on the other hand or however.

downside = el otro lado de la moneda; downside, upside.  Manifesting Upside Recovery Instead of Downside Fear

SIX QUESTIONS ABOUT GAMONAL

Where were people protesting?

When did the people protesting?

Why did they protest?

How did people protest?

What happened at Gamonal?

Who were the people protesting?

Spanish Riots Leave 11 Police Injured; 40 Arrested

MADRID — Spanish officials say riots in the northern city of Burgos have left 11 police injured and 40 people have been arrested after protesters began attacking police vehicles, burning garbage containers and breaking windows.

Rioting began Friday night as residents of Burgos' Gamonal district objected to city hall plans to redesign a street into a tree-lined boulevard with an underground car garage. Eight police officers were injured and 17 people arrested.

A government statement says disturbances erupted again Saturday, with residents demanding the release of those arrested the previous night, leading to three police being injured and 23 further arrests.

Sunday's statement said police intervened to "guarantee law and order and citizens' safety."

Activism is good to make somethings change however we're worry because the violence is the downside. We could be more creative and not violent.

It could be efective without violence and with more creativity?

Example: flashmob

Amazing airport flashmob: Flight attendants surprise travelers in Shanghai

FLASHMOB
+

No violence

No offensive

Down tone

Catch people

Attention

__

Too simple

Not seious

No effect on the authorities, They've say: "Let them dance"

Conclusion: Can we afford to be antisistemas?

Our flashmob

Make a shirt, at the from only PUBLIC ECUCATION, at the back:

I get no doubt

 when I get up again

you're never gonna keep me down

The music to sing in the Vargas Street:

What must you do for a legal manifestation?

You must ask permis

You must inform/report to the police within a week's notice

You must inform of the route

You musn't use offensive language

Use "if ... unless"

If you inform, the police can't arrest you unless you use language offensive.
